A fun notes app for writers and creative project planners.
Notebooks, floating text windows, a daily word goal and a tiny flame who cheers you on. Free, in your browser, no account.
One HTML file. Runs in Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari. Your notes stay on your device.
All the notes. None of the calories.
Other apps make you sign up, sync up, log in, wait around and hand over your secrets. Dark Notes Lyte is one featherweight file that opens instantly and keeps your words on your own computer.
Scribble a scene. Plan a novel. Outline a game. Track a whole world of characters. Then do it again tomorrow, because there is a word goal and a little flame watching.
But wait, there is more!
Order now and you also get spell check that works offline, automatic backups to a folder you choose, and a neon sign you can switch on and off for absolutely no reason. Operators are not standing by, because there is nothing to buy.
Organise everything in colourful notebooks with sections and pages, in a fruit palette that is easy on the eyes.
Put notes anywhere on the page. Drag, resize and stack them like index cards on a desk.
Smart suggestions built right in, no internet needed. Add your character names to your own dictionary.
Set a target, watch the bar fill as you type and get a little celebration when you hit it.
In Chrome and Edge, pick a folder once and backups are saved there automatically. Other browsers download a backup file.
Search every page at once, then replace across your whole project in one go.
Download the single file and it runs anywhere, even with no connection at all.
No account and no cloud. Your notes stay on your device unless you choose to move them.
Dark Notes Lyte stays free. Pro will add a pile of fun extras for people who want them:
